Free Defective Drugs Case Review

Provigil History:

Since 1998, people who have suffered from sleep disorders including narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea have been aided by using the drug Provigil, which is manufactured by the pharmaceutical giant Cephalon. This drug was sometimes used by military jet pilots to combat fatigue. The drug generated enormous amounts of revenue for the company, and was largely seen as a success both in terms of its business impact and its results in patients.

FDA notes Problems with Provigil:

However, word came down recently that serious problems have been linked to the use of Provigil, and these reports have prompted action by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Provigil uses:

Provigil was formulated during the 1990's to help the millions of people who suffered from narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea. Narcolepsy is a condition whereby the patient shows a tendency to fall asleep at unexpected times. Obstructive sleep apnea occurs when a person's breathing is not functioning properly, leading to an interruption in sleep patterns and even a risk for suffocation in extreme cases.

Provigil helped to ease all of these symptoms and conditions by helping to regulate sleep patterns and to allow people to remain awake during the day. It was even used as a performance enhancer by certain professional groups including military personnel to heighten their awareness.

Provigil Side Effects of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome.

In 2007, reports began to surface that linked Provigil to serious side effects, and the most serious side effect has been identified as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), a progressive and extremely dangerous condition. Perhaps the most dangerous characteristic of SJS is that it begins to present itself in the form of a seemingly-innocuous rash. However, SJS can advance to the point where the patient's skin to literally peel off of the body, thereby exposing the patient to serious and sometimes fatal infections, as the skin serves as a protector of the body from these problems.

My experience with Provigil was nightmarish! Skin problems; psychological problems and could be very possibly be the cause of my current financial situation. The details are long and disturbing. I would like very seriously to discuss the possibility of a lawsuit. Thanks

This stuff put me into cardiogenic shock, acute kidney failure and brain hypoxia. My rash was noted only as I laid in a hospital bed, on a mechanical respirator.
